Wombatt: Not a random name

Wombat is the name of an Australian marsupial, approximately 39 inches (1 m.) in length with a short, stubby tail. Wombats are herbivore, most active at night and love to sleep on their backs with their legs in the air.

As a picture is worth a thousand words, we have found this picture of a cutte little wombat for you:

Wombat

What you may not know is that sadly wombats are endangered because of the destruction of its grassland habitat by humans.

Our name is Wombatt because we do care about the environment and we believe that together we can make a difference. By sharing the excess capacity of our computers at night - when the wombat is more active - we will be reducing the pollution and waste generated by the growing data processing activities.

With your help, we will work while you sleep, contributing to a better world by protecting our environment and the environment of the wombats and many other endangered species.

With Wombatt, you can Change the World

Imagine that you are a major hardware manufacturer or a cloud computing provider. What would be your dream? Of course new mastodontic datacenters to sell massive amounts of processing power to corporations at premium prices.

But we at Wombatt do not think that is the right approach. Why? because the environmental impact of these data centers is huge: not only they consume a lot of energy but also generate a lot of waste and pollution in the manufacturing process of the numerous components of new hardware required.

That is why we believe we can help reduce the carbon footprint by sharing the extra processing capacity we all have, optimizing the use of already existing IT resources. This way there is no need to manufacture new hardware and the extra energy consumed is much less than having dedicated resources.

Another advantage is that by reusing existing resources, the cost of processing the data can be much lower. At Wombatt we believe we can also make the difference by selling cheaper data processing services to applications that can impact positively our lives and the lives of others, expanding their reach and scope.

We believe we can all change the world, do you? If so, join us to keep updated:

What is Wombatt?

Perhaps if we tell you that we are a grid computing company it does not say anything to you.

We live in the era of the data - companies generate more and more amounts of data that needs to be processed. These computing requirements result in bigger and bigger data centers that consume a huge amount of power.

At Wombatt we believe that a more sustainable model is possible. What if we all share the excess processing capacity of our computers? We will be helping the world reducing the environmental impact of producing and operating these data servers.

Helping the world is a good enough value proposition, but what if you could also get some benefits? If companies are willing to pay for processing capacity, why not earning as well some credits to be transformed in cash and other goodies?

Interesting, isn't it? Keep posted, we will bring you more updates soon!
